Pearls are one of the most difficult raw materials to trace for many reasons. There are currently no certification processes for pearls so Samantha only sources pearls directly from small independant pearl farms run by people she has met and trusts.
Pristine water and a sheltered bay are required to maintain oyster health in order to cultivate high quality pearls. Oysters are filter feeders which means they help maintain the eco system and clean the water where they live. This fact makes them a real favourite of Samantha’s as cultivating pearls in a sustainable way actually benefits the environment.
The Cortez pearls Samantha uses in her ODYSSEY collection are only cultivated in one bay in Mexico, the pearl farm Samantha sources from is run by a marine biologist. They are the rarest and most ecological pearls in the world. They are also stunning as the rainbow lip oyster they are grown in gives the pearls their incredible colour combinations that are as unique as fingerprints.
Below are a list of pearl farms we source from.
